Illustration of Rose Tea

Rose Chai, also known as Gulab Chai, is a fragrant tea that adds elegance to your daily cup. This delicate floral variation of traditional masala chai balances the subtle sweetness of rose with the warmth of spices, creating a brew that’s neither overpowering nor too mild. It is popular in regions like Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Goa, each having its own unique style. Some versions are light and floral, while others are richer with milk and nuts. The gentle pink hue and cooling nature of rose make this chai perfect for moments when you want something a little different from your regular masala chai – comforting yet refreshing at the same time.

it’s etymology

“Gulab” means rose in Hindi and Urdu, derived from the Persian words gul (flower) and ab (water). Rose water has been used in Indian cooking and beverages for centuries, heavily influenced by Mughal cuisine. Combining rose with chai reflects a beautiful fusion of India’s tea traditions with Persian floral heritage.
