it’s etymology

The word “Lemongrass” refers to the aromatic herb known for its lemony scent and flavor. In Hindi, lemongrass is called “Hari Chai” or “Nimbu Ghas,” while in Sanskrit it’s known as “Bhustrina.” In different Indian languages, it’s called “Vasana Pul” in Tamil, “Gandhatrinamu” in Telugu, “Majjige Hullu” in Kannada, and “Injipullu / Vasana Pullu” in Malayalam. Botanically known as Cymbopogon citratus, lemongrass belongs to the Poaceae family and has been used in traditional medicine and cooking across Asia for centuries. The herb is valued not only for its distinctive aroma but also for its therapeutic properties in Ayurveda.

Step-By-Step Guide

In a saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil over medium heat.

Add the lemongrass stalk (cut into pieces) and simmer for 3–4 minutes to release its citrusy aroma.

Add 1 tbsp black tea leaves and brew for 2–3 minutes until the tea develops a rich color.

Pour in 1 cup of milk and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

Lower the heat and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes for the flavors to blend.

Add sugar and stir until dissolved.

Continue simmering for another 1–2 minutes to ensure all flavors are well integrated.

Notes

milk alternatives :
Semi-skimmed, skimmed, or plant-based milk (almond or coconut milk work well) can be used.
sweetener :
You can use jaggery or honey instead of sugar or any other sweetener.
If Using Tea Bags :
For 1/2 tbsp: 2 tea bags, for 1 tbsp: 3 tea bags, for 2 tbsp: 5 tea bags.
